Billy McCullough and his wife Elizabeth have recently returned from an exhaustive journey to the United States in search of the legendary Davy Crockett and friends. Billy and Liz joined us for our recent History Event to speak about their adventures trekking around  Tennessee in search of the final resting place of one of Davy Crockett’s former wives. Billy is quick to point out that some of the information that has being generally accepted as historical fact about the Folk Hero is, in fact, NOT fact at all.

The Crockett name has had a long association with this part of Donegal and many of the Crockett family are still living and working in this region.

Davy Crockett was a frontiersman, legendary folk hero and three-time Congressman. He fought in the War of 1812 and died at the Alamo in the Texas Revolution.

Over the course of the past 15 years, Billy and Liz have journeyed many times to the United States in search of the giants of Ulster Scots history. Together they have collected a huge volume of information about some of the best (and least) known heroes of Ulster Scots descent.

Billy and Liz will be joining us again, in the not too distant future,  for more engaging tales of the legends of Ulster Scots history. Be sure to keep tuned to our blog and Facebook page for regular updates.
